Our Reconciliation Journey: November 2015
Even though we are a start-up company, ArrowFM is taking our corporate social responsibility seriously. Our Aboriginal owners and managers passion for engaging and empowering Indigenous Communities is apparent in everything we do. We want to share this journey with our clients, partners and subcontractors to ensure key-learnings are shared and our Reconciliation vision is achieved. Here is a summary of our journey so far.
ArrowFM has finalised our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) with ambitious targets and a strong focus on Relationships, Respect and Opportunities. Our RAP working group provides the following comment; Our vision is to create a strong, supportive, culturally aware community involving all Australians that increases opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our RAP will be available on our website soon.
ArrowFM spoke at the first Indigenous Supplier event hosted by the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet. Our story can be found here: http://www.indigenous.gov.au/news-and-media/stories/arrowfm-open-business A big Thank You to the DPM&C and Indigenous.gov for the coverage!
On first arriving in Canberra our GM learnt about bush tucker from Thunderstone who will be taking part in the Mununja Garden at the Arboretum. The sod turning ceremony will be taking place on Monday (9/11/15) so stay tuned for progress updates!
In September we also met with Nova Peris at the book launch of 'Old Man's Story' by Big Bill Neidjie. Nova is Australia's first female Indigenous federal parliamentarian, gold medallist athlete and Big Bill's great niece! A very inspirational woman!
ArrowFM also took part in the Yarning Circle, organised by Dion Devow and CBRIN. The passion of these experienced Indigenous business people was motivating and we can’t wait till the next one.
The Department of Defence hosted a Supply Nation meet the supplier event at Old Parliament House in October. Our Managing Director Djali Bloomfield informed potential clients of our business capabilities.
Our staff have conducted the Reconciliation Australia training http://www.shareourpride.org.au/ and we have shared this invaluable resource with our networks. It only takes a few minutes to complete and takes “you on an awareness-raising journey.”
