The 2016 Telstra Business Woman ACT Corporate & Private Award
I am very humbled just to be a finalist among such amazing women and being a winner is such a source of pride I’m almost lost for words. Over the weekend I’ve been flooded with congratulations and well-wishes from all angles and it is truly heart-warming! Thank you to all of you!
I started with Arrow 14 months ago, when it was just an idea. A national Supply Nation Facilities Management company who works nationally to connect the Federal government with local Indigenous businesses.
We’ve come a long way since then. We’ve won several national Federal Government contracts, hired a team of 15 (and counting), started self-delivering electrical services, received over 1000 work orders and have a projected revenue of $4million this FY. Not bad for a start-up!
But I work with Arrow Facilities Management because I want more than just profit margins. I want to make the world a fairer place. Arrow leverages the Indigenous Procurement Policy to give Indigenous businesses and employees a hand up, not a hand out.
It has been an awful lot of hard work, but worth every minute. Thank you to the ATO and the Department of Industry for believing in us from the start and being champions for supplier diversity. Thank you to ArrowFM owners Brendan Read and Djali Bloomfield, especially Djali for accepting my award for me. That truly is #heforshe in action! The owners of Arrow trusted me to grow their business, creating something unique and sustainable, while also supporting my continuing work with Engineers without Borders Australia.
Apologies that I couldn’t be with the ACT Telstra Business Women on the award night, but thank you all for your support and looking forward to meeting the other winners in Melbourne next month! The alumni is a truly amazing group of women that I am privileged to be a part of. When women support women anything is possible!
